Blue Caprice is a thriller inspired by the true crime story known as the Beltway Sniper killings. In October 2002, two men, John
Muhammed (42) and Lee Malvo (17), conducted a siege of terror in the D.C. area. Their method: a series of random shootings in
public places. Their weapon: a sniper rifle, fired from the trunk of a blue Chevrolet Caprice.

For this limited edition underwear collaboration, I deconstructed mattresses and lounge furniture into raw foam forms. The installation centers what’s usually hidden, aligning with the collection’s focus on intimacy and structure. Spray-painted surfaces nod to Opening Ceremony’s New York roots, as if the pieces were tagged on the street and reassembled.

	In an effort to bring electronic communications into the 21st century, Google's team of developers has reportedly spent six years working hard to color your email experience.

Described as beautiful, fast and powerful, Gmail Blue has all of the features you've come to love -- only now the buttons, text and links are … you guessed it … blue.

"It's Gmail, only bluer!" project manager Richard Pargo exclaims in the program's intro video, which was posted online in honor of April Fool's Day.

		<title>In Distress Atelier: Conceptual Branding</title>

IN DISTRESS ATELIER

Role: Creative Direction, Concept Development, Branding, Identity Design, and Marketing Strategy
What if workwear carried the same authorship as the art itself?
In Distress Atelier is a conceptual business model for reselling actual artists’ workwear, the project builds on the trend of distressed fashion while grounding garments in the realities of a labored economy. Each piece is inspected and authenticated prior to sale.

	&#60;img width="900" height="900" width_o="900" height_o="900" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/b44436df5e5b44ae8e9a845928ffcdc6beb57ff106840aab4ed200f715cccaa0/IN-DISTRESS-ATELIER-STAMP2-copy.jpg" data-mid="244339073" border="0"  src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/900/i/b44436df5e5b44ae8e9a845928ffcdc6beb57ff106840aab4ed200f715cccaa0/IN-DISTRESS-ATELIER-STAMP2-copy.jpg" /&#62;

&#60;img width="4724" height="3166" width_o="4724" height_o="3166" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/e9fd71e56e22cc68018dc7da1c66aa4e3fa0dc8ae0c045a90c263d3d756353e3/TCB_03-copy.jpg" data-mid="244562637" border="0"  src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/e9fd71e56e22cc68018dc7da1c66aa4e3fa0dc8ae0c045a90c263d3d756353e3/TCB_03-copy.jpg" /&#62;

	CONCEPT DEVELOPMENT
Selling worn, paint-splattered clothing is not a novel concept. Big box retailers have long manufactured simulations of labor, while boutiques have replicated the DIY aesthetic at varied scales. Yet despite an abundance of “distressed fashion,” the signified bohemian lifestyle has never been convincing.&#38;nbsp;
A gesture can be copied, but the hand cannot.

The concept behind In Distress Atelier emerged from the depths of my own closet, stacked with years of authentic studio and workwear. Unlike everyday clothes stained and eventually tossed, my garnmets were composed by the same gestures and hues as the art that made them. They weren’t just workwear, they were timecapsules; and the process was provenance.

&#60;img width="692" height="708" width_o="692" height_o="708" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/91717f3e891db1a20ff65dbfc6acc4070aa78ce18238dfc323629af5cb172651/821A58DD-05CD-4976-8B14-E8CBF8AEA2CF_1_105_c-copy2.jpg" data-mid="244563876" border="0"  src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/692/i/91717f3e891db1a20ff65dbfc6acc4070aa78ce18238dfc323629af5cb172651/821A58DD-05CD-4976-8B14-E8CBF8AEA2CF_1_105_c-copy2.jpg" /&#62;

	MARKETING STRATEGY
The question then became how to communicate this ethos to an broader community beyond the creative class?&#38;nbsp;
In Distress Atelier aimed to grow a new audience for appreciating art while amplifying the creatives who shape it. Interviews, aphorisms, and visual fragments echod the challenges that many artists contend with in the studio. Capsule collections were later developed in collaboration with specific artists and artisans, each release tied directly to a body of work or project. These garments functioned not only as clothing, but as relics of intimate studio visits.A notarized authentication system extended the model for sustainability outward, allowing artists to launch their own lines under shared standards.&#38;nbsp; The strategy was simple: make it easier for artists and workers to circulate what they actually wear, and build a community where process and participation drive the brand forward.&#38;nbsp;

&#60;img width="768" height="758" width_o="768" height_o="758" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/e254303c066d33ea915f4ffb5349c1ce95789357d051990d9e062dad8ecf6a81/wrapped-2-smaller.jpg" data-mid="244602587" border="0"  src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/768/i/e254303c066d33ea915f4ffb5349c1ce95789357d051990d9e062dad8ecf6a81/wrapped-2-smaller.jpg" /&#62;
	CREATIVE DIRECTION
The creative direction was guided by principle: Let the art speak for itself.In Distress Atelier was never meant to posture as something it wasn’t. The work set the tone, and direction followed. The visual language stayed playful, colorful, and “ready made,” reflecting the sensibilities of the artists and workers behind the garments.

Packaging extended the resourceful approach. Tags were replaced with stamps and purchases were wrapped with repurposed craft paper. The result felt less like retail packaging and more like a studio floor sample.

	BRANDING IDENTITY

In Distress Atelier sits somewhere between a label, an archive, and a platform for circulation.&#38;nbsp;The identity was built around the idea of provenance as design. Rather than inventing a visual language, the brand borrowed from systems of authentication, archival labeling, and studio inventory.

The brand is structured in lines, from studio garments to union-made pieces and authenticated distressed clothing, each one functioning like an edition.
